ACA Members Rally to Support Hurricane Victims

A

lthough Hurricanes Harvey and
Irma hit more than two months
ago, many relief efforts are still
underway to help people in the Gulf Coast
impacted by the storms. For Harvey alone,
more than 930,000 cubic yards of debris
have been collected and total property losses
caused by flooding ranged between $65-$75
billion, according to AIR Worldwide.
Right after Harvey hit, the American
Collectors Association of Texas established
a Disaster Relief Fund in support of
hurricane victims who are enduring
unprecedented hardship.
As many people impacted by Hurricane
Harvey continue to struggle, ACA of Texas
asks for your support in donating to the
Disaster Relief Fund. Contributions will
be used to directly support families and
individuals working in our industry that have
been adversely impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
A generous benefactor of ACA of Texas
has pledged a dollar-for-dollar matching gift
for up to $100,000 in contributions from
donors who help this cause.

Visit acaoftexas.org for more information
on how to donate to the Disaster Relief
Fund. Or if you prefer to pay by check,
please make it payable to "ACA of Texas
Disaster Relief Fund" and mail it to: ACA
of Texas, 18604 Interstate 20 West, Lindale,
TX, 75771. For more information, email
execdir@texascollectors.com.
ACA International member company Caine
& Weiner and its employees also stepped up to
help victims of the recent hurricanes that hit
Texas, Florida and the U.S. territories.
The company matched $3,000 in employee
donations, plus an additional $1,000, as well
as $1,000 in matching donations with its
Affinity Partner Building Industry Credit
Association. The response from Caine &
Weiner included donations totaling $10,000.
Caine & Weiner and its employees
donated $5,000 each to the American Red
Cross and "Hand in Hand: A Benefit For
Hurricane Relief," a telethon fundraiser
broadcast Sept. 12, 2017.
The relief funds helped more than a
dozen agencies, including: Rebuild Texas,

Children, United Way, ASPCA, Best
Friends/Save Them All and the Mayor's
Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief.
"Natural disasters are a part of everyday
life, but as we recognized the impact these
had on our customers in those regions, we
began to truly understand the magnitude
they were having on all of the residents
of those areas," Greg Cohen, president &
CEO of Caine & Weiner, said in a news
release. "It makes me proud to see our
team come together to help others in such
dire need."
In October, employees from ACA
member company CBE Companies Inc.
raised $12,000 for hurricane victims in
Puerto Rico, Texas and Florida through a
donation to the American Red Cross.
The donation was part of the company's
Casual for a Cause initiative, which allows
employees to wear jeans to work when
they volunteer for a regular paycheck
deduction targeted for charity.

Scott Hearn, executive vice president of Universal Fidelity LP in Houston,
works with other volunteers to help clean up the city after Harvey.
