Helping the Community,
One Flight at a Time
on Donagher's hobby as a pilot has turned into one way he gives back to his
Donagher, CEO and owner of Penn Credit Corp. in Harrisburg, Pa., has been flying
airplanes since the 1980s, yet four years ago, his staff introduced him to a new hobby when they
gave him helicopter-flying lessons as a Christmas gift.
Donagher and the Penn Credit staff are well-known throughout their community and state
as charitable people. In fact, one year during the holidays, Donagher-dressed as Santa-took
flight to deliver donations to fire departments in six different counties.
He's also partnered with emergency responders on search and rescue missions, and has
helped young people scratch "helicopter rides" from their bucket lists.
When a helicopter is flying overhead near Harrisburg, there's a good chance it's piloted by
Donagher. Word of mouth has fueled his volunteerism, which recently included a helicopter
ride for a local woman diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
The woman, who is also a photographer, wrote about her desire to fly in a helicopter on
Facebook-and lo and behold, it didn't take long for someone who knew Donagher to see the
post and pass it along.
She documented her ride in a YouTube video (watch it here: youtu.be/apTRDnzZKsk), and
thanked Donagher for the experience.
"I am just glad to be able to do it for her and I hope she recovers and I wish her the best of
luck," Donagher said. "I am always looking for a reason to fly."
