Launches Historic Campaign to "Collect the Truth"
New ICL website features testimonials from collection professionals
and consumers speaking in support of the collection industry.

he Institute for Collection
Leadership (ICL), an innovative
coalition of ACA International
members who are all large agency credit
and collection professionals or affiliate
members, recently unveiled a new website
designed to clarify public perception of the
debt collection industry.
The website, www.collectthetruth.org,
features videos and written testimonials
from debt collection professionals and the
consumers they've helped, all speaking in
support of the credit and collection industry.
Here, we sit down with ICL's current
and next chair, Jim Richards, chairman of
Capio Partners LLC, and Lisa Im, CEO and
president of Performant Recovery, to discuss
the new website and ICL's role in moving

Can you tell me about the Institute
for Collection Leadership? Who is
involved and what is its purpose?
Jim Richards: The Institute for
Collection Leadership was founded
in 2015 to address the challenges facing
debt collection agencies, law firms, debt
buyers, affiliates and creditors. Our
members are large organizations, each
with at least 100 employees, which handle
much of the volume in the recovery
space but had no action-based platform
to discuss how to modify issues affecting
the future of their organizations and the
industry as a whole.

We felt it was time to build such a
platform, and for the first time ever bring
these leaders together to make a difference.
From our first meeting it was obvious this
was a great idea. You would think with that
many "alphas" in one room it would have
been tough to get anything done, but it was
clear from the start that our ideas on how
